Kingdom Families
Building Kingdom Families
Text: Genesis 2:21-25
God’s Design for the Family:
Gen. 2:18 – The concept of family originated at the time of creation.
Adam and Eve were the first family, and their example shows that the man was to leave his parents and be the husband of one wife.
Deut. 6:4-9 – The family is to serve as a training center.
Parents are responsible for teaching their children about God and fostering a home environment that reflects kingdom values and beliefs.
This will work only if parents hold shared beliefs about kingdom culture.
The Scriptures instruct believers not to marry those who do not share their same biblical values (Exodus 34:13-16; Deut. 7:3-4; 2 Cor. 6:14)
Divided beliefs can cause friction in marriages and families.
Fathers play a significant role in the family.
Because of his role, which he shared in part with his wife, the father was to be honored by his family (Exodus 20:12; Eph. 6:1-3).
The father is responsible for the spiritual well-being of his family (Prov. 22:6; Eph. 6:4).
God designed the family for companionship.
Establishing Kingdom Families:
Here are three keys to establishing kingdom families.
Create values that align with Scripture (Deut. 11:18-21).
There are many things in our culture that go against traditional biblical family values, such as:
Living together and having children as a married couple without formally being married (1 Cor. 6:13, 18; Heb. 13:4).
Same sex marriage (Lev. 18:22; Rom. 1:26-28).
Toxic home environments that include physical, verbal, and sexual abuse.
Align your thinking with the Kingdom of God.
We must purge our minds from the customs of this world (Rom. 12:2 NLT).
Building kingdom families will require us to unlearn ungodly methods and learn kingdom methods by renewing our minds to God’s Word.
Leading our homes by worldly standards will lead to confusion, disorder, and destruction.
Live your life according to biblical convictions.
Conviction is a firmly held belief (Josh. 24:14-15).
Just as Joshua refused to bow to the gods of his day, we must choose to serve God despite external pressures.
Strong convictions in the Word of God provide an anchor for your soul, keeping you and your family on track when external pressure or persecution arises.
The early church believers modeled this for us (Acts 5:40-42).
Call to Action:
Commit to God’s blueprint for your family.
Set clear Biblical values for your family.
Establish Biblical convictions for your family.
