Text: Proverbs 29:18
God has a plan for your life:
God created every detail of our lives with purpose (Ps. 139:13-16).
Your purpose is greater than your career, family vacations, hobbies, and so on (Eph.2:10).
Just as God has a purpose for your life, He also has a purpose for His church and your role within it (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; Eph. 4:11-16).
God has given us a vision here at Sozo Church that is bigger than any one person.
Our vision is to make disciples and develop leaders by planting new campuses in 20 states and five continents (Matt. 28:19-20).
Our mission is to lead people to salvation, freedom, healing, and a life-giving relationship with Jesus through discipleship (John 17:3).
Short version of our mission that people can remember – Saved. Free. Healed. Growing.
Here are four characteristics of our vision.
1. Our vision and mission unify us.
We have a personal responsibility, according to the Scriptures, to make disciples and develop leaders (Matt. 28:19-20).
There are thousands of people in Tri-Cities who don’t know Christ, and as ministers of reconciliation, it is our responsibility to address this problem (2 Cor. 5:18-20).
This mission connects us and fosters a sense of unity.
2. Our vision is crucial because our city faces serious problems.
Our society is increasingly secular and distant from God, with widespread Biblical illiteracy and carnality within the church.
3. Our vision offers a solution to the problems.
Sozo Church is a word-driven, disciple-making, leader-developing, Spirit-filled church that exists to see lives transformed and leaders sent into the world. The reason is that this reflects the purpose of a New Testament Church.
At Sozo Church, we strive to cultivate a culture where people can experience God, creating space for them to encounter His presence, hear His voice, and experience genuine transformation.
Our solution is to create a place where churched and unchurched people feel at home, to create clear pathways for spiritual and leadership development, and to ensure they are engaged in groups and in serving. This is all accomplished through our Growth Track (Boxes and Batons).
4. Our vision motivates us to act now.
Washington state has one of the highest numbers of adults reporting no religious affiliation. Approximately 38% statewide.
If we don’t make disciples for Christ, our city will become increasingly godless over the next five to ten years, and many may even join Mormonism, the Jehovah’s Witnesses, or Islam.
According to Pew Research, Islam is projected to become the world’s largest religion by 2050.
If we fail to develop leaders, expanding to more cities via multisite will be impossible.
Final Thoughts
1. How can each person make a difference?
Attend church regularly.
If you haven’t participated yet, attend the Discovery Luncheon to find out how to get involved in the church.
Invite people consistently to church.
Engage weekly by serving or attending a connect group.
Pray daily for our church, its pastors, elders, and leaders, as well as our cities.
Give faithfully—tithe, offerings, and Kingdom Builders.
2. What is the reward?
You will grow in your relationship with Christ and come to know Him more. God will be glorified because your life will bear His fruit (John 15:8).
We will reach more people for Christ, more children and youth, develop more leaders, grow as a church, and advance the kingdom of God.
