THE PERSON THE HOLY SPIRIT.
John 14:16-18

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead (Trinity), and His attributes and activities are always constant with the character of God the Father.

The Holy Spirit possesses the following attributes of God.

1. He is present everywhere (Ps. 139:7-8).
2. He is all-knowing (1 Cor. 2:10).
3. He is eternal (Heb. 9:14).
4. He is all-powerful (Zech. 4:6).
5. He is diverse with His gifts (1 Cor. 12:4).
6. He is Holy (Rom. 1:4).
7. He creates (Ps. 104:30; Gen. 1:2; Job 26:13, 33:4; Ps. 33:6).
8. He gives life (Ezek. 37:14; Rom. 8:11).

The Holy Spirit is mentioned eighty-one times in the Old Testament.

1. The Holy Spirit was present at creation (Gen. 1:1-2, 26).
2. The Holy Spirit played a role in the creation of man (Gen. 2:7).
3. The Holy Spirit strived with humanity for a season (Gen. 6:3).

The Holy Spirit empowered certain judges and other individuals to fulfill their assignments.

1. Moses (Num. 11:17).
2. Joshua (Num. 27:18).
3. Othniel (Judg. 3:10).
4. Gideon (Judg. 6:34).
5. Samson (Judg. 13:25, 14:6).
6. Saul and the Prophets (1 Sam. 10:5-6, 10, 11:6, 19:20-24).
7. David (1 Sam. 16:13, 2 Sam. 23:2).

The Holy Spirit was a vital part of the life of Christ.

1. The Spirit anointed Jesus for His ministry after His water baptism (Matt. 3:16).
2. The Holy Spirit empowered Jesus to preach and work miracles (Luke 4:18; Acts 10:38).
