Rom. 5:10 (NLT)

Discovering Who God Says You Are

It’s not our job to define who we are; it’s our job to discover what God says about us.

Tapping into the reality of who you are in Christ will swallow up your past failures, sickness, depression, despair, and old identity.

Knowing who you are In-Christ gives you a true sense of peace and security. Here is a list of facts and realities God says about us in His word.

1. I have been accepted by God (Eph. 1:6).

Even though others may have rejected you, God always has and will accept you regardless of your history.

(John 1:12-13) (Eph. 2:10 AMPC)

Confession – I am God’s work of art.

2. I am a member of God’s family (Eph. 2:19).

The Greek word for “foreigners” refers to an alien who dwells as a sojourner in a land without the rights of citizenship (Acts 7:6, 29).

Confession – God is my father, and I am His child (John 1:12). I have been bought with the blood of Jesus, and I belong to God (1 Cor. 6:20).

3. I have been made righteous in Christ (2 Cor. 5:21).

Understanding your new nature is the key to overcoming sin consciousness, guilt, shame, and condemnation (Rom. 8:1).

The charges against you have been dropped, and you have been forgiven of all your sins (Col. 1:14, 2:14).

(Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 3:21-22, 5:9; 2 Cor. 4:8-9)

Confession – I have been made righteous in Christ. God views me through the blood of Jesus and not through my past sins.

4. I am loved by God (1 John 4:10-11).

No person or thing can separate us from the love of God (Rom. 8:35).

Confession – God’s love for me is unconditional.

5. I am more than a conqueror (Rom. 8:37; 1 Cor. 15:57).

Our DNA is victory and not defeat (2 Cor. 2:14).

Confession – I am more than a conqueror; therefore, I have what it takes to win.

6. God calls me His friend (John 15:15).

Confession – I am a friend of God.

7. I am complete in Christ (Col. 2:10).

Knowing that you are complete in Christ empowers you to overcome insecurity and inferiority (Eph. 1:13-14; Rev. 1:5-6).

Confession – I find my security and completeness in Christ.

8. I have been reconciled to God and am a minister of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18-20).

Our testimony reveals to others that God can and will save, deliver, heal, and restore.

Confession – I am a minister of reconciliation, and everywhere I go, I take salvation, healing, deliverance, and restoration with me.

9. I can approach God with freedom and confidence (Eph. 3:12)

God has given us access to His presence through the blood of Jesus (Heb. 10:19).

We have 24-hour access to our heavenly Father (Eph. 2:18; Heb. 4:16).

Confession – I have direct access to God 24 hours a day.

Conclusion:

Enjoying your new identity in Christ is a daily discipline of renewing your mind to God’s word. It will require you to let go of toxic thoughts and conversations regarding your identity and think on and speak the things God says about you (Phil. 4:8).
